Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking an Area Manager to support the Parks and Countryside Service in delivering safe, welcoming, high‑quality parks and green spaces across the city. The role focuses on leadership, contract and staff management, and effective engagement with a wide range of stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a background in operational management or horticulture, experience in managing staff and contractors, and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Background in operational management, horticulture, grounds maintenance or similar field.
• Experience managing staff and contractors.
• Excellent communicator engaging with councillors, stakeholders, volunteers, residents and council teams.
• Financially competent, able to manage budgets and resources.
• Committed to developing Sheffield’s parks and green spaces to meet local needs.
