Job description

Job Title: Area Delivery Manager - Fabrication

Location: Barrow-in-Furness (on-site)

Salary: £60,500+ depending on skills and experience plus car allowance and performance bonus

What you’ll be doing
  • Ensure you and your team are trained and compliant with all relevant internal, legislative, regulatory, and contractual requirements
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with your team, peers, customers, suppliers, partners, and stakeholders
  • Provide regular communication and feedback to senior management on productivity, engagement, and emerging concerns
  • Give ongoing performance feedback to team leaders and peers, taking corrective action where required
  • Manage and deliver the strategic plan for your business unit and ensure production contracts meet delivery dates and payment milestones
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, tooling, and working methods
  • Deliver operational excellence by setting local targets aligned to KPIs, and regularly reviewing progress
  • Ensure adherence to all governance requirements and the operational framework
  • Resolve non-conformances promptly, escalating issues where appropriate, and provide relevant management information and trend data
Your skills and experiences

Essential:

  • Engineering/Management qualification (Level 5) or equivalent experience
  • Leadership experience of working in a complex production environment
  • Control Account Management and Earned Value Management
  • Experience as a middle manager within an organisation, of an equivalent size and scope
  • Experience of operating in an environment where compliance is key and understanding of the management of processes critical to site regulations

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a steelwork, welding, or caulking environment

The team

The Area Delivery Manager will lead the preparation and scheduling of good-to-go work for the Tradal teams to execute. Working with the FDM/Trade Leads to deliver tasked work orders to the trade teams, along with supporting functions to complete. Delegated authority from the General Manager or Facility Delivery Manager for enablement for leading the execution of the contracted work scope at an Area level in accordance with SQCDP principles. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
