Job summary

Aspens Services is seeking an Area Catering Assistant to support school kitchens in Portishead. You’ll help with basic food preparation and deliver friendly service, including tills during service, ensuring a smooth lunchtime rush.

You’ll work Monday to Friday during term time, 25 hours per week, with 37.8 weeks per year. The role offers training, pays £13 per hour, and a supportive team environment for career growth in catering.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering or fast-paced service is required.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety practices.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification is preferred but training is provided.
• A valid full UK driving licence is required.

The role:

As a Area Catering Assistant, you will be a vital part of the team, supporting kitchens within your area in basic food preparation and delivering excellent service that makes the lunchtime rush run smoothly.

You’ll be making a real difference through responsibilities that include:

• Customer Interaction:Working on the tills during service (don't worry, full training is provided!).
• Front-Line Service: Providing friendly, polite customer service to all students and staff.
• Essential Support: Assisting the team with basic food preparation
• Maintaining Standards: Ensuring a safe, clean kitchen environment and meeting Health and Safety compliance
