Base pay range

Sterling Arrow is hiring on behalf of a fast-growing client seeking a talented and driven Architect to play a key role in large-scale residential development projects. If you have a passion for innovative design, a strong technical skillset, and experience in housing schemes, this is a fantastic opportunity to take on a lead role in shaping communities.

The Role:

As an Architect, you will be responsible for developing high-quality architectural designs and drawings that bring large-scale housing projects to life. You will oversee projects from concept to completion, ensuring that all aspects meet planning requirements, building regulations, and industry standards.

You’ll work closely with national builders, key stakeholders, and planning committees, ensuring smooth project execution while maintaining design excellence and compliance. You will also have the opportunity to lead presentations, defend project proposals, and contribute to the long-term strategic vision of major developments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Architectural Design & Planning – Develop clear, detailed architectural plans and layouts for large-scale residential projects, ensuring feasibility and compliance.
  2. Project Management – Oversee the full project lifecycle, managing timelines, budgets, and collaboration with various teams.
  3. Technical Expertise – Apply knowledge of engineering, materials, and construction methods to create innovative and sustainable design solutions.
  4. Quality & Compliance – Conduct regular site evaluations to ensure projects adhere to safety standards, regulations, and quality assurance checks.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement – Work alongside developers, local authorities, and planning committees, presenting and defending project proposals.
  6. Collaboration – Liaise with national builders and consultants to align designs with construction feasibility and best practices.

What You’ll Need:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (ARB/RIBA qualified) with 3+ years of UK experience
  2. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, and Adobe Creative Suite
  3. Strong creative, organisational, and presentation skills
  4. Ability to lead projects, manage stakeholders, and meet deadlines
  5. Experience working on large-scale housing schemes is highly desirable
  6. Valid driving license and willingness to travel occasionally
  7. Must be based within a reasonable commuting distance to Chelmsford office.
