Job summary

Cheshire East Council is seeking an Arborist to join the Arboriculture team. The role covers diverse tree works in parks and open spaces, including sites under commercial contracts, with a 37-hour week.

The successful candidate will hold a full UK driving licence, knowledge of tree species, and Lantra/NPTC qualifications. There is potential for further qualifications and a market supplement.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence required.
• Good knowledge of tree species identification and arboricultural practices.
• Lantra or NPTC CS30, CS31, CS38, CS39 qualifications or equivalent.
• Woodchipper operation certification.
• Knowledge of working at height regulations.
• Effective communication skills and a flexible attitude.
• Emergency at work first aid qualification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out arboricultural works across the borough, safely and effectively.
• Safely climb trees using climbing aids and work at height.
• Use appropriate safety and climbing equipment according to guidelines.
• Complete site-specific risk assessments.
• Deploy, operate and maintain vehicles, machinery and equipment safely.
• Respond to scheduled and ad hoc tree works.
• Work at any Cheshire East site as required.
• Follow council policies and safe working practices; document records.
