Job description

Job Title: Arborist Climber / Tree Surgeon
The Role...

We are looking for a skilled, safety-conscious, and passionate Arborist Climber to join our dedicated team of tree care professionals. In this role, you will be on the front lines of urban forestry, executing high-quality tree maintenance, removals, and canopy management.

This isn’t just a job for someone who can climb; it’s for a true professional who takes pride in the science and artistry of arboriculture. If you love working outdoors, possess excellent aerial skills, and are committed to the highest standards of safety and environmental care, you will thrive in our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities...
Aerial & Ground Operations
  • Precision Climbing: Perform expert climbing, rigging, and aerial tree work (pruning, shaping, crown reduction, and sections dismantle) utilizing modern, safe arboricultural techniques.
  • Tree Removal: Safely fell and dismantle trees of varying sizes and complexities, often in confined urban spaces or near delicate property.
  • Ground Support & Rigging: Establish complex rigging systems to lower heavy timber safely, and operate ground machinery including woodchippers, stump grinders, and chainsaws.
Safety & Compliance
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct thorough pre-work site inspections and daily hazard assessments to ensure the safety of the crew, the public, and surrounding property.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain climbing gear (LOLER compliance where applicable), chainsaws, and rigging equipment daily to guarantee flawless operation.
  • PPE Adherence: Strictly adhere to industry safety standards and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
Health & Preservation
  • Species Identification & Care: Apply knowledge of tree biology to make precise cuts that promote tree health and minimize the spread of disease.
  • Site Restoration: Ensure work sites are left clean, tidy, and safe for clients, removing all debris and processing bi‑products efficiently.
What We Need from You...
  • Proven Climbing Experience: Demonstrated experience as a competent arborist climber, comfortable working at significant heights and in varying weather conditions.
  • Industry Qualifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., NPTC / City & Guilds units for Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-Cutting, Tree Climbing & Rescue, and Aerial Tree Rigging).
  • Rigorous Safety Focus: A deep, uncompromising commitment to health and safety protocols and teamwork.
  • Physical Fitness: Excellent physical stamina, strength, and agility required to handle heavy gear and demanding aerial maneuvers daily.
  • Driving License: A valid driving license (ideally with towing entitlement/Category BE or pre-1997 grandfather rights) is highly preferred.
Salary and Benefits...
  • – Salary: £22,000 – £27,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • – Holidays: 28 days annual leave (inc Bank holidays)
  • – Pension Scheme: Automatic enrolment into our company pension scheme
  • – Target led PAID team days out
  • – Continuous Professional development & support within your role
  • – Work with a fun, passionate, energised & award winning team!
  • – Enhanced Holiday Allowance for Loyalty
