Job summary

Biosystems, the commercial manufacturing division of Tropical Marine Centre (TMC), invites applications for an apprenticeship role at our Chorleywood facility to learn fabricating, assembling, and maintaining aquatic filtration systems.

You will work on the workshop floor with experienced fabricators and aquatic systems engineers, gaining hands-on skills in pipe fabrication, plastics welding, PVC cutting, and sub-assembly for world‑class filtration equipment used in aquariums and research

Qualifications

• Hands-on mindset with precision focus.
• GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent) desirable.
• Willingness to learn and engage with apprenticeship training.

Responsibilities

• Pipe fabrication & UV system build to drawings and specs.
• Plastics solvent welding of pipework.
• Cutting, preparing and solvent-welding PVC pipework.
• Building and assembling commercial UV steriliser units.
• Sub-assembly of aquatic products: fittings, manifolds, flow components.
• Experience with CNC and AutoCAD drawing capability is a nice-to-have.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specs.
• Maintain accuracy and leak-free joints throughout fabrication.
