Job description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Apprentice Ward Clerk to join our team on Fern ward at King George Hospital.

About the role

As an Apprentice Ward Clerk, you will ensure the smooth running of the ward, e.g. booking ambulances, answering calls and arranging follow‑up appointments. You will also complete the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship. If you already hold a Customer Service qualification at Level 2 or above, you are not eligible to apply for this post.

Responsibilities
  • Booking ambulances and arranging transport for patients.
  • Answering telephone calls and providing information to patients, relatives and staff.
  • Arranging follow‑up appointments and coordinating care activities.
  • Providing efficient and effective clerical support to nursing and medical staff within the Acute Assessment Unit.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Promoting a caring and sympathetic environment for patients, relatives and staff.
Qualifications
  • Be 18 years old or over.
  • Have the right to work in the UK with a visa that covers the duration of the apprenticeship.
  • Have been a permanent resident of the UK for the past 3 years.
  • Ready to undertake the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship.
