A local government organization in Wigan is seeking an apprentice to join their Fleet Services Team. This role involves repairing and maintaining vehicles while undertaking a Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance. Candidates should be self-motivated, possess good communication skills, and have a flexible attitude towards work. The role is part of the Fleet Services Team who are responsible for the repair and maintenance of all Council vehicle, plant and equipment. You will support the team of Workshop Technicians and together, you will be accountable for ensuring that our front-line operational teams are equipped with the resources required to deliver services throughout the borough, which may require you to work outside of normal working hours.
You will be required to spend a proportion of your time undertaking a Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician qualification, including practical and theoretical components. You will regularly attend college to gain a range of skills and experience whilst learning from professionals both at college and within the organisation., Fleet Services are responsible for the management of the Council s fleet of vehicles and plant, including compliance of the maintenance and repairs schedule, procurement and performance of vehicles and drivers. High levels of productivity and meeting best practice will be required to ensure that frontline operational services are equipped with the resources required to deliver essential services to residents of the borough.
You must be a highly self-motivated individual with the drive to listen, learn and achieve. You must have good communication skills, a flexible attitude towards work and ability to work towards successfully completing the apprenticeship qualification. This would be a great opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about working in a workshop environment and who may have some practical experience from school, college, or their hobbies in this area.
