An automotive repair company in Warrington is seeking a motivated Apprentice Technician to support experienced technicians in maintaining and repairing vehicles. Responsibilities

Job description

As an Apprentice Technician, you will work alongside an experienced technician, maintaining and repairing customers' vehicles to very high industry standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a smart, ambitious and self‑motivated individual to join a friendly environment.

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out foundation tasks common to all service and repair procedures
  • Contributing to a safe working environment
  • Accessing information such as wiring diagrams and technical data
  • Using complex diagnostic, mechanical and electrical measuring equipment
  • Removing, repairing and replacing components to the manufacturer's specification
  • Applying advanced diagnostic principles and logical problem‑solving techniques
  • Segregating waste for disposal or recycling and complying with environmental legislation
  • Demonstrating due regard for safety, minimizing risk of injury and vehicle damage
  • Carrying out fundamental removal and replacement tasks on a vehicle
  • Obtaining diagnostic and repair information
  • Interpreting diagnostic information and using electrical wiring diagrams to determine system serviceability
  • Using a range of diagnostic equipment
  • Following recognised diagnostic procedures, logical diagnostic sequence and applying advanced diagnostic principles to establish faults
  • Reporting faults using company procedures and recommending suitable further actions
  • Following recognised repair procedures to complete a wide range of repairs, including complex or in‑depth knowledge
  • Testing the function of repaired and fitted components
  • Adhering to business processes and completing documentation following workplace procedures
  • Using ICT to create emails, word‑processing documents and carrying out web‑based searches
  • Completing a range of services and inspecting and preparing a vehicle to the required quality standard for handover to the customer
Qualifications
  • GCSE in English and Maths (grade C / 4 or above)
  • Level 2 functional skills in English & Maths (if required)
  • Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (light vehicle) apprenticeship standard

Training & Employment Details
  • Salary: £15,704 for the first year, potentially increasing with age
  • Work hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm (may include Saturdays on a rota basis)
  • Shift: 40 hours per week
  • Start date: Monday 8 December 2025
  • Apprenticeship duration: 3 years
  • National minimum wage for apprentices applies
  • Off‑the‑job training on a residential basis (schedule to be confirmed)
