Job summary

High Lawn Primary & Nursery School invites applications for an Apprentice School Business Manager. The role offers hands-on experience in school administration, finance and operations, under supervision of an experienced SBM.

It provides structured training through Salford City College as part of a Level 4 apprenticeship. The post is fixed-term (01.09.26–31.08.28), term-time only, 24 hours per week (Wed-Fri).

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English and Maths required or equivalent.
• Level 4 School Business Professional Apprenticeship to be completed with Salford City College.
• Applicants must not already hold a Level 4 Apprenticeship at the same level.
• Strong numeracy, literacy and ICT skills.
• Good organisation and ability to manage time and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support the organisation and development of school systems and procedures.
• Assist with administrative tasks, data management and report preparation.
• Learn how financial systems operate, including budgeting and procurement.
• Support facilities, contracts and resource management.
• Assist with compliance areas such as Health & Safety, GDPR and statutory requirements.
• Contribute to effective communication with staff, pupils, parents and external agencies.
