Job summary

Superdrug Stores plc is hiring an Apprentice Sales Assistant in Colchester. You will serve customers, showcase Star Buys, and keep the store stocked while supporting team targets. Training is in-store for 12 months, leading to the Retailer Level 2 Apprenticeship, with guidance from your tutor and team.

The role offers flexible shifts, 39 hours per week, and a starting rate of £9.95 per hour. Progression to team leadership is encouraged and supported.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (grade 4/C) or equivalent.
• Not currently in any form of education; available for full-time shifts.
• No Retail Apprenticeship completed previously.
• Eligible to work in the UK.
• Brand new to retail.

Location: Unit A5, Stane Retail Park, Colchester, Colchester CO3 8DW. Hours: 39 hours a week. Shifts: Flexible. Salary: £9.95 per hour.

As an Apprentice Sales Assistant at Superdrug, you’ll be right at the heart of the action—serving customers with a smile, sharing our amazing Star Buys, and making sure everyone leaves feeling great! You’ll help keep the store looking its best and fully stocked, while playing a key role in smashing store targets. It’s a hands‑on, fast‑paced role that’s never boring and packed with chances to learn. We see our Apprentice Sales Assistants as future Team Leaders, and we’ll give you everything you need to grow—with brilliant training, and real opportunities to progress. Your training will take place in-store over the first 12 months, so no college days and no homework! At the end of your training period, you will complete a discussion around your experiences and an observation of you performing your role. You will be supported throughout by your team and your tutor to achieve your Retailer Level 2 Apprenticeship.

• Desire to learn and improve your knowledge/skills
• Flexible in working hours and adaptable to change

You qualify if…

• You have a grade 4 / C GCSE (or equivalent) in English and maths (national 4’s for Scotland)
• You are not currently in any form of education, and you are available for full time shifts
• You HAVEN’T completed a Retail Apprenticeship before
• You are eligible to work in the UK
• You are brand new to retail
