Job summary

Bracknell Forest Council is inviting applications for an Apprentice Assistant Ranger, a full‑time apprenticeship on a fixed‑term contract for 30 months. The role includes studying towards the Countryside Ranger Apprenticeship and gaining hands‑on experience in Parks & Countryside, with potential for a permanent position afterwards.

Starting by 12 October 2026, hybrid work options are available. The team covers diverse sites, with responsibilities ranging from site maintenance to safety

Qualifications

  • Passion for conservation and nature.
  • Affinity for outdoors and wildlife.
  • Interested in community involvement and long-term environmental projects.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake estate management tasks: maintain flower beds, cut grass, plant shrubs, hedge cutting, sweep leaves, remove litter, maintain paths and park infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of the parks and address health and safety matters.
  • Encourage community involvement and liaise with volunteers to coordinate their work in the park.
  • Comply with health and safety procedures, particularly with machinery and equipment.
  • Carry out weekly play area inspections, report findings and remediate issues.
