About the Role

Do you have compassion for others and work well with people? Would you like to support people with their mental health challenges? If you have experience working in a mental health setting or your own lived experience of mental health, excellent communication skills, and can work in a fast‑paced environment, this opportunity may be for you. You will support individuals without a degree in the West Cheshire NHS Talking Therapies Services in Chester as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) apprentice on a Level 6 degree apprenticeship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide short‑term, evidence‑based treatments in line with NICE guidance to help people improve their wellbeing and quality of life.
  • Deliver telephone and online one‑to‑one as well as group interventions.
  • Work with a range of groups, including older adults, perinatal mental health, BAME communities, and people managing long‑term health conditions such as diabetes.
  • Collaborate within the NHS Talking Therapies service, contributing to a fast‑paced, evolving clinical environment.
Apprenticeship Details

The apprenticeship is a 15‑month course (fixed term) delivered in partnership with Liverpool John Moore's University, starting March 2026. Apprentices will combine academic study with work‑based learning and, upon successful completion, will transition to a permanent Band 5 PWP position.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • GCSE Mathematics and English with a grade C or above (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated commitment to the academic requirements of the course and all assessments.
  • The role is not suitable for graduates.
