Job summary

A local council in the UK is looking for a motivated Apprentice - Outdoor Education Instructor. This one-year contract offers flexibility and the chance to gain a Level 3 qualification while working at an outdoor education centre. You'll gain experience in maintaining equipment and assist in delivering high-quality education courses. The role includes weekend and evening work, with a pay rate of £8.22 per hour.

Qualifications

  • You must have Maths and English Level 2 Functional Skills or equivalent GCSE qualifications.
  • For apprenticeship applicants with special education needs, the minimum requirement is Entry Level 3.

Job description
Overview

Apprentice - Outdoor Education Instructor, 37 hpw, 6 hours college time included. Workplace Location: Thurston Outdoor Education Centre, Coniston, Cumbria, LA21 8AB. Rate of pay: £8.22 per hour. One year Fixed contract.

Work pattern

Flexible to cover the needs of the centre. Weekly hours will be worked over 10 days in a 14-day period. Working rotas will be agreed in advance. Will include weekend and evening work.

Role

We are seeking to appoint a motivated individual with the aptitude and ability to undertake a Level 3 apprentice programme, in partnership with Kendal College. The role involves both on and off the job training and gaining experience as an Outdoor Activity Instructor.

Hours of work

37 hours per week over 5 days, including some weekend and evening work. In addition to working with groups in the outdoors, you will contribute to the running of the centre generally in areas such as equipment and site maintenance, domestic support along with our wider staff team.

Qualifications required
  • Maths and English Level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE qualifications grade A* to C (or 4 to 9).
  • ECHP: For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement the apprenticeships English and Maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3 and British Sign Language qualification are an alternative to English qualifications for whom this is their primary language.
