SGS is offering an Apprenticeship for a Mechanical Fitter in Immingham. You will train in valve maintenance, repair, and certification, with day-release training and hands-on experience beside expert engineers. The role focuses on practical skills, documentation, and learning in a global quality, safety, and innovation environment.

You’ll gain a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship qualification and have opportunities for career progression within SGS after completion.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in engineering and mechanical equipment.
• Good practical and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence (or working towards).

Responsibilities

• Assist with valve maintenance, repair, overhaul and certification in workshop and on customer sites.
• Learn to safely use engineering tools and machinery under guidance.
• Support dismantling, inspecting, repairing and reassembling valves and related equipment.
• Complete apprenticeship coursework and practical training with day release for training.
• Maintain accurate records and support job documentation and certification.
• Work with experienced engineers to develop technical knowledge and skills.
