Job summary

York Minster is seeking a motivated apprentice to join the Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship Programme. You will gain hands-on experience operating specialist machinery for precision stone cutting, while learning to interpret engineering drawings and work with digital files.

You will combine modern technology with traditional heritage craft, attend college part-time, and build a portfolio of workplace evidence under expert instruction.

We’re looking for a motivated apprentice to join our Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship Programme at York Minster.

You’ll be part of an ambitious new chapter for York Minster. Our Centre of Excellence is establishing the Minster Precinct as a world-class campus for research, education and training in traditional craft and the advanced technical skills needed to care for a 21st-century heritage estate. By encouraging global learning and knowledge sharing, it will safeguard vital skills for future generations and set a benchmark for the management of complex heritage sites.

Based in our state-of-the-art Tech Hub, you’ll gain hands-on experience operating specialist machinery used in precision stone cutting, learning to work safely, accurately and efficiently.

You’ll gain hands-on experience and develop practical skills in machining, interpreting engineering drawings and working with digital files, combining modern technology with centuries-old heritage craft.

You’ll learn from our expert craftspeople, build a portfolio of workplace evidence and complete day-release college training alongside your apprenticeship.

We’re looking for someone with a practical mindset, a keen eye for detail and a genuine enthusiasm for learning, with the commitment to attend college part-time and complete the programme.
