Job summary

A public sector recruitment agency in the UK seeks an Apprentice IT Asset Manager to support software and hardware management within the IT Asset Management team. Ideal candidates should have GCSEs in Maths and English and a proactive work ethic, as they will track IT assets, manage stakeholder expectations, and continuously improve processes. This is a full-time apprenticeship role requiring a commitment of at least 30 hours per week.

Qualifications

As well as being given off the job training to allow you to complete your apprenticeship within your working hours, you’ll be supported by your line manager, skills coach and the service management community, as well as fellow apprentices on the programme, so you will have plenty of sources of encouragement to help you succeed. There’s a lot to learn and do, so you need to be ready to be proactive, work hard and participate in the many opportunities you’ll be given to showcase your skills.

As part of the role, some travel to the other digital hubs may be required.

We are seeking a candidate to join the IT Asset Management (ITAM) team as an Apprentice IT Asset Manager within ITAM. This role involves supporting the management of Software and Hardware on the DWP estate. IT asset management (also known as ITAM) is the process of ensuring an organisation\'s assets are accounted for, deployed, maintained, upgraded, and disposed of when the time comes. Put simply, it\'s making sure the Software in your organisation is tracked and being used optimally.

Responsibilities
  • Learn the defined procedures to identify, track, control and report on IT Software and Hardware assets and associated data.
  • Work on ‘Low Risk’ tier publishers, ensuring renewals are challenged and present value for money.
  • Apply processes, techniques and tools to capture, track, correct and report on Asset items and associated data.
  • Support the creation of formal baselines in accordance with Asset Management procedures.
  • Work with stakeholders and manage their expectations.
  • Carry out routine housekeeping of the Asset Management data.
  • Support continuous improvement of Asset Management procedures.
  • Identify risks and issues, escalating them via your manager or the relevant stakeholder as appropriate.

You will be given time out from your role to work on your apprenticeship. You must be committed to seeing through the apprenticeship and complete the qualification. This includes working a minimum of 30 hours per week to ensure you have enough time to complete the apprenticeship.

Eligibility
  • Hold a valid passport/birth certificate or residence permit.
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK.
  • Must have lived in the UK and/or EEA for 3 years prior to apprenticeship start date or hold some form of exemption.
  • Not be in full-time education or be undertaking another apprenticeship by the apprenticeship start date.
  • You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject.
  • You must hold GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or equivalent or be willing to undertake a functional skills assessment.
