Job summary

Bolton Council invites applications for an Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Technician. This fixed-term 3-year apprenticeship offers 37 hours per week and a pathway to a recognised heavy vehicle qualification while you learn on the job.

You will work with experienced technicians to maintain and repair heavy vehicles (vans, trucks, buses, plant machinery), with study commitments to reach the Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician qualification.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (4-9, or A*-C) or level 2 functional skills (or expected to achieve by September 2026).
• You must commit to achieving these within the duration of the apprenticeship.
• Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician apprenticeship required; no prior Level 3 qualification in this field.

Responsibilities

• Learn to maintain and repair heavy vehicles such as vans, trucks, buses and plant machinery.
• Work alongside experienced technicians and gain workshop experience while studying toward a recognised qualification.
• Be flexible to travel to different locations within the Authority and attend college/training centres as required.
