Enable Futures, a multi-award-winning Apprenticeship Employer, is partnering with R.H Fullwood, a well-established family run company specialising in Commercial Construction projects, to employ an Apprentice Floorlayer.
Responsibilities
- Work in compliance with occupational health, safety and environmental requirements to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of self and others at all times.
- Report any non‑compliances to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
- Carry out work in accordance with all current building regulations, manufacturer guidelines, quality standards and work instructions.
- Follow the installation programme, adapting to changes in schedule and requirements where necessary.
- Use correct materials, tools and equipment for the project.
- Prepare the work site, including acclimatisation or material prep, setting out work and preparing the subfloor.
- Plan, measure, cut and install floorcoverings to the project drawings and specifications.
- Prepare and mix materials according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Collaborate with colleagues, clients, sites and other construction trades.
- Maintain a clear and safe working environment at all times, disposing of waste appropriately using a sustainable approach.
- Carry out continuous professional development to maintain knowledge of current and future developments affecting the role.
- Identify textile and resilient underlayments and floorcoverings and use the correct installation method.
- Install textile sheet and tile floorcoverings in contract and domestic settings.
- Install resilient sheet and tile floorcoverings in contract and domestic settings.
- Install appropriate ancillary products to textile and resilient floorcoverings in contract and domestic settings.
- Perform remedial works on textile and resilient flooring.
- Carry out pre‑user checks and maintain plant and equipment, escalating defects or faults.
- Store tools, materials and equipment appropriately.
- Full training and support will be provided throughout the apprenticeship with mentorship, regular reviews and a dedicated Apprenticeship Manager for ongoing guidance.
Qualifications
- GCSE in English (grade 3) and Maths (grade 3).
- Attention to detail and team working skills.
- Relevant industry experience is an advantage and the apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect prior knowledge.
Training Schedule
- The successful applicant will work towards a Level 2 Floorlayer Qualification delivered by Floortrain on a work‑based learning basis.
- There will be one theory session every month at Floortrain's Training Centre, in Adwick, Doncaster.
