Knowle Primary School is inviting applications for an Apprentice Early Years Educator to join our nursery team. You will work under guidance to provide high-quality care and education, support safeguarding, and help create a stimulating environment for young children.

The Apprenticeship lasts 15 months with visits from a designated assessor. Training includes Level 3 EY Educator Apprenticeship and Functional Skills in Maths and English.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship.
  • Willing to engage in safeguarding training.
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English to Level 2 (if not exempt).

Responsibilities

Job description

Knowle Primary School is looking to appoint a passionate, hardworking and driven Apprentice Early Years Educator to join their outstanding nursery team. This vacancy is being managed by Plymouth Teachers and School Alliance.

In this role you will be working under the direction of nursery teachers and senior staff to provide safe, high-quality education and care for young children and to maintain a stimulating and enjoyable environment. Under the overall direction of the Headteacher you will play a major role in formulating the aims and objectives of the nursery and establishing the policies through which they are to be achieved. You will carry out all the professional duties of an Early Years Educator as required, take responsibility for child protection issues as appropriate and take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children within the school. You will need to be committed and driven to want the very best from every child and be an outstanding member of our school community. You will be supported within your role by the school and the apprenticeship provider.

This Apprenticeship covers various areas including:

  • Supporting child development
  • Safeguarding and child protection
  • Promoting positive behaviour
  • Engaging with families
  • Maintaining a safe and hygienic environment
  • Supporting play and learning activities.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship
  • Behaviours, Skills & Knowledge
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English at level 2 (if not already exempt through prior qualifications)
  • You will have regular visits at the workplace from a designated assessor to observe your progress and competence in the role you are carrying out
  • Training days will be provided by Plymouth Teachers and School Alliance.

The Apprenticeship duration is 15 months, offering apprentices hands-on experience and practical knowledge in various aspects of early years education, including child development, safeguarding, behaviour management, family engagement, and creating a safe learning environment.

There may be the potential for full-time employment upon successful completion of the apprenticeship across the Learning Academies Trust, for the right candidate.
