Job description
Apprentice Clinical Administrator

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for an Apprentice Clinical Administrator to work in the ENT Department. This is an Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration, lasting 18 months, with a guaranteed Band 3 post upon successful completion. Candidates will graduate to a permanent 37.5‑hour Band 3 role, earning a Band 2 salary during the apprenticeship.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in day‑to‑day administration of the ENT team, providing high‑quality secretarial support to consultants, junior medical staff and specialist nurses.
  • Audio‑type letters and documents, manage telephone enquiries and communicate with patients about appointments and admissions.
  • Cover other administrative posts within the Trust as needed.
  • Interact with the local education provider to complete the Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme.
  • Attend training sessions and maintain professional development records.
Qualifications & Education
  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs, including English and Maths (grade 4 or equivalent).
  • Business Administration Level 2 NVQ, or equivalent experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including telephone use.
  • Basic IT skills – Microsoft Office and typing.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and manage time effectively.
Apprenticeship Eligibility
  • Age 18 or over.
  • Right to work in the UK and residence for at least 3 years.
  • Proof of English and Maths qualifications.
  • Not currently enrolled in another funded training programme.
