Job description

As an Air Technician Weapons apprentice, you will be in charge of maintaining and managing weapons and explosives, making sure they’re ready at a moment’s notice. These include aircraft bombs, smart weapons, missiles, ammunition and individual weapons.

  • Handle extremely dangerous equipment
  • Arm aircraft with bombs, guided weapons, missiles
  • Take responsibility for the servicing, maintenance and repair of ejection seats, aircraft gun systems and missile launchers
  • Maintain, care and issue the weapons used by your station
  • Building and fitting smart weapons anddecoyflares to the aircraft
Minimum education requirements
  • GCSE grade C/4 or Scottish National 5 grade C in English language, Mathematics and an approved Science/Technology-based subject.
Requirements
  • Be aged 16 – 47 years old (Must attest before 48th birthday)
  • Be a citizen of the UK, Republic of Ireland, a Commonwealth citizen since birth(with ‘right to work’ immigration status)or holder of dual UK/ other nationality
  • Commit to a minimum 3 years of specialist training
  • Pass theDefence Aptitude Assessment
  • Pass a Fitness test
