Job summary
PA Consulting in Melbourn, United Kingdom, is seeking a technically strong scientist with a PhD or early post‑doc level to join our Applied Physics team. You will work on computational models, simulations and analytic methods across defence, energy, manufacturing, transport, healthcare and emerging tech.
You will collaborate with physicists, mathematicians and engineers to deliver rigorous scientific thinking and real‑world impact in a consulting environment.
Qualifications
- Physics or closely related science/engineering degree with strong quantitative skills.
- Experience in computational physics, applied mathematics or data analysis is valued.
- Background in signal processing, numerical modelling or scientific computing is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Develop computational models, simulations and analytical tools.
- Analyse experimental, simulated and operational datasets.
- Apply mathematical and statistical techniques to solve complex technical challenges.
- Support algorithms for sensing, optimization, prediction and decision support.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations and client deliverables.
- Present findings clearly to colleagues and clients.
- Collaborate with physics, engineering, mathematics and data science teammates.
- Grow expertise across multiple technical domains.
