Job summary

Pay.UK is seeking an AI Engineer to apply AI responsibly in a national-scale payments environment. You’ll turn AI concepts into practical tools and services, collaborating with technology and business teams to deliver reliable, well-documented solutions.

You’ll design, build and deploy ML models, prepare datasets, and monitor live AI applications to ensure accuracy and trust in critical systems. This role offers a strong focus on quality engineering and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and deploying AI/ML solutions for production.
• Proficiency in Python and ML libraries for development, testing and maintenance.
• Experience preparing datasets and evaluating model performance using structured testing.
• Experience integrating AI solutions with APIs or cloud-based services.
• Ability to document implementation choices for technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Delivery experience with Copilot Studio is essential; Foundry and other LLM tech are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI solutions addressing defined business and operational needs within Pay.UK.
• Develop, test and deploy machine learning and generative AI models for internal tools, workflows or decision support.
• Prepare and refine datasets for model training, evaluation and ongoing performance monitoring.
• Integrate AI services into existing platforms, applications and engineering workflows.
• Create technical documentation for models, data pipelines, APIs and deployment processes.
• Evaluate model outputs, identify risks or limitations, and improve performance through structured testing.
• Collaborate with engineers, data specialists and business teams to translate requirements into working AI applications.
• Monitor live AI solutions, troubleshoot issues and implement updates to maintain reliability and accuracy.
