Job summary

The University of Edinburgh is seeking an IT/Applications Support Analyst to join the Production Management team in Edinburgh. The role focuses on providing high quality support for corporate applications and collaborating across teams to ensure smooth LIVE systems.

It offers a hybrid working pattern with anchor on-campus days and some remote work, and requires strong problem solving, learning agility and the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

Qualifications

• Proven problem solving skills in IT support.
• Ability to learn and support a broad range of technologies.
• Experience interacting with technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Knowledge of Oracle or SQL Server databases.
• Experience with Python/Django and ColdFusion is a plus.
• Understanding of SaaS/Cloud integrations.

The Opportunity:

We’re currently offering an exciting role for an IT/Applications Support Analyst to join our friendly Production Management team and work at the heart of one of the world’s leading universities. The role involves:

• Providing high quality technical support for corporate applications and working with colleagues and business partners across areas to ensure the smooth running of LIVE systems primarily under Student/Academic services (e.g. Tribal SITS)

• Contributing specialist business and technical expertise to project teams ensuring that new IT systems and facilities are introduced successfully with minimal risk to the ongoing operation of university business.

• Proven problem‑solving skills ideally backed by considerable professional experience of working in an IT support role.

• Ability to learn and support a broad range of technologies within a variety of business contexts often working simultaneously on a range of differing problems progressing each based on customer and technical requirements.

• Confidence and flexibility to work under pressure to deliver effective and high‑quality solutions.

• Proven ability to successfully interact with both technical and non‑technical colleagues at all levels in both verbal and written communications.

• In depth knowledge of RDBMS such as Oracle or SQLServer, one or more web‑based software development tools that includes Python/Django, ColdFusion and related frameworks and exposure to working with SaaS/Cloud integrations.

This post is full‑time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part‑time or flexible working patterns ie compressed hours or staggered start/finish times. This role offers a hybrid working pattern, with weekly anchor days worked on‑campus in Edinburgh and the rest from home.
