Qualifications

  • Degree/HNC in Mechanical Engineering is desirable but not essential, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to plan and organise work schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide a consistently high level of customer support.
  • Good understanding of NPIP processes and design/development stages.

  • Support customer planning of installation sign-off testing.
  • Appraise final engine installation and resolve concerns.
  • Understand and apply engineering design and safety requirements.

About the role: We are seeking an Applications Engineer / Senior Applications Engineer who will act as single point of contact for Machine Groups installing JCB engines and aftertreatment in Off-Highway applications, power packs and generator sets. Provide support, guidance, and documentation to ensure that appropriate engines are selected and installed to a high standard, ensuring the product is fit for purpose in use and protects the reputation of both the customer and Propulsion Engineering.

What does this roleinvolve day to day?
  • Base engine and Aftertreatment selection appropriate for the application, market segment and target emissions territory
  • Ensure the customer understands and applies the guidance contained within the installation manual to ensure a robust installation design
  • Provide support and guidance to the customer to allow them to plan installation sign-off testing and validation
  • Undertake formal appraisal of the final engine installation, working with the customer to solve any sign-off concernsRetrieval of data and preparation of documents to support customer application sign-off and approval
  • Understand and apply all current JCB internal and external specifications and requirements with respect to sound engineering design and safety
  • Provide installation specific input for internal FMEA and DVPSOR
  • Creation and maintenance of documents to support instrumentation, testing and sign-off
This will be suited to you if...
  • You have a Degree/HNC in Mechanical Engineering is desirable but not essential, or equivalent experience
  • You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • You have the ability to plan and organise work schedules to meet deadlines
  • You have the ability to provide a consistently high level of customer support with the ability to react quickly and effectively
  • You have a good understanding of NPIP process’s and design/development stages
