Applications Engineer – CNC Machinery (UK & Ireland)

Location: Flexible – ideally outside the South East.
Salary: Up to £40,000 basic, £55,000–£60,000 OTE.
Benefits: Company car (plug‑in hybrid Audi/Mercedes), 6% pension, life assurance (3× salary), 24 days holiday + bank holidays.
Hours: Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm (no weekends).

🔧 The Role

We're looking for a skilled Applications Engineer to join our dynamic UK team, supporting customers across the UK and Ireland. You'll work directly with end users and sales engineers to deliver outstanding technical support, machining expertise, and hands‑on training on CNC fixed and sliding head machinery.

🚗 Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to customer sites throughout the UK & Ireland to provide machine set‑up, prove‑out, cutting trials, and operator training.
  • Support new machine installations at customer premises and company showrooms, ensuring all equipment meets factory specifications.
  • Develop and prove machining methods and programs to solve customers' manufacturing challenges in collaboration with sales engineers.
  • Deliver live machine demonstrations for dealers and customers, clearly explaining processes and handling technical queries confidently.
  • Prepare accurate, realistic cycle‑time estimates for UK and European sales engineers, maximising machine performance.
🧠 Experience, Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong CNC background – ideally coming directly from the shop floor.
  • High‑level programming experience with either fixed‑head or sliding‑head lathes.
  • Proven track record in an applications, manufacturing, or production engineering role.
  • Excellent understanding of metal cutting, tooling, and machining processes.
  • Ability to plan complete manufacturing processes for precision components.
  • Self‑motivated and confident working independently or as part of a team.
