Job description

Job Title: Application Support Engineer

Location: Preston. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Circa £40,000 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:
  • Responsible for carrying out data maintenance activities and data fixes
  • Work with other project teams within EIT to co‑ordinate and deliver large changes and integrations
  • Develop Test Plans for changes being made to the applications and be accountable for carrying out the testing before changes are deployed to the Production environment
  • Provide product and service direction to the Product Management Team and implement these as part of a self‑organising team
  • Drive issue resolution and resolve underpinning problems
  • Work with customers to introduce innovation and evolve the products
  • Have significant understanding of the specific scope, functional capability or module and how this interfaces with the other components of the system
  • Work with suppliers, customers, team members and industry peers to continuously improve delivery capabilities
  • Document technical business requirements and problems into a format that is easily consumable
  • Contribute to protecting the products from technical debt and process debt
Your skills and experiences:
  • Experience of working in an IT Function
  • Previous experience working within an application support environment
  • Experience of working in a similar role or environment
  • Experience working with Agile software development methods in a high‑pressure environment
  • Knowledge and ideally certification in ITIL v3/v4

The Products and Applications Team

The Product Engineer will work for the Product lead within Shared Services Enterprise IT (EIT) to undertake the required activities to ensure that the business applications are stable whilst providing configuration support when necessary enhance their capabilities. The role will focus on technical support and administration activities for new applications that are transitioning into the product portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a team of similar individuals to manage a set of applications collaboratively.
