Overview

Join Birmingham City Council's Applications Support Team as an experienced Senior Application Support Engineer. You will lead expert support for various software applications, including the new Income Management Application, Civica Pay. Collaborate with functional, development, delivery, and security teams to implement and support new and existing solutions. The ideal candidate is user-centric, highly motivated, with extensive experience providing expert technical support and guidance to internal teams. They should be able to collaborate and work systematically with other stakeholders to ensure optimal implementation, performance, and support of a variety of solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What you will do
  • Lead on current applications and collaborate with teams to implement upgrades and advanced solutions that meet business needs.
  • Lead on the current application portfolio of a variety of applications in Revenues & Benefits, Finance, Legal, and Democratic services. You will collaborate with suppliers, business representatives, scheduling, database and other teams to support advanced solutions that meet business requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise: Ideally extensive hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of a Revenues & Benefits application, with a preference for experience in 3rd Party products from NEC (formerly Northgate).
  • Application Support: Lead on the implementation, seamless support and operation of applications across multiple business areas – including interpreting business requirements to ensure correct setup of system parameters.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain excellent relationships with peers, stakeholders within the business and suppliers.
  • Experience: Comprehensive experience in Revenues and Benefits service support and third party hosted solutions.
  • Technical Skills: Strong IT skills, with extensive hands-on experience in implementing, troubleshooting and managing software applications.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
  • Additional Skills: Ability to work on own initiative and to lead, develop and deliver work plans, while also prioritising and organising the work of a multi-faceted application support service in a busy customer-facing environment.
