Job description
About the practise and the role:

The vacancy is in Application Operations (AppOps), which sits within Cloud and Modern Infrastructure (C&MI).

Cloud & Modern Infrastructure

Focuses on modernising and managing IT infrastructure across hybrid environments, enabling organisations to integrate private, public, and sovereign cloud solutions while ensuring security, resilience, and cost optimisation. It includes services such as cloud migration, infrastructure modernisation, and intelligent networking with zero‑trust security principles.

Application Operations

Complements this by ensuring the smooth and secure functioning of enterprise applications through end‑to‑end management of middleware, databases, and application servers. Leveraging automation, AI‑driven predictive maintenance, and DevSecOps practices, Application Operations aims to reduce incidents, improve performance, and accelerate time‑to‑market, creating a seamless bridge between infrastructure and application layers for optimised business outcomes.

Where purpose meets career:
  • Contribution/Impact: Your contributions will have a direct and measurable effect on our success, helping shape solutions that truly matter.
  • Autonomy/Trust: We believe in empowering our people—giving you the freedom to manage your work your way, backed by full support.
  • Work/Team culture: Join a supportive, inclusive workplace that values teamwork, open communication, and shared success.
Skills we can’t do without:
  • Proficiency in C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server (including SQL scripting)
  • Experience with .NET frameworks such as MVC, .NET Core, and Blazor
  • Strong customer‑facing experience, including working directly with end users and demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills we'd like:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services such as App Services, Function Apps, and Monitor/App Insights
  • Experience with GitHub and Azure DevOps for version control and CI/CD workflows
  • Knowledge of relational databases like MySQL, MSSQL, or Oracle
  • Strong knowledge of PowerShell scripting and Windows Server environments
  • Pension Scheme – contributions matched up to 10%
  • Private medical cover
  • Income Protection
  • Life Assurance
  • 25 days paid leave + National Holidays
  • Flex benefits program

Note: This role is UK‑based and offers a remote working opportunity, with occasional UK domestic travel as required. The successful candidate should hold or be capable of obtaining BPSS clearance to work with UK public sector organisations.
