Job summary

Slaughter and May is seeking an Application Engineer to join the Business Systems team, focusing on BI reporting and data platforms such as the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Power BI/Fabric and Azure Data Factory.

You will translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences, collaborate with business users, technology colleagues and vendors to ensure reliable, scalable, secure applications that meet evolving needs and drive data insights.

Qualifications

Expert SQL skills with XML and JSON data types.
Strong Data Warehouse methodologies including Kimball and Inmon.
Strong DAX and semantic modelling knowledge.
Power BI and paginated report writing.
Experience with Azure Data Factory REST and OData connections.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to convey concepts to non-technical audiences.
Experience with DevOps and deployment pipelines.
Experience in the legal sector or regulated environments.
Familiarity with GDPR, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus.
Exposure to agile delivery methodologies.

Responsibilities

Serve as the technical product owner for assigned business applications, guiding their direction.
Manage roadmap, backlog, upgrades, maintenance tasks, and security updates.
Act as SME for portfolio and promote opportunities for improvement.
Engage with stakeholders to track progress and enhance user experience.
Collaborate to gather requirements and translate them into practical changes.
Lead or participate in agile ceremonies like sprint planning and retrospectives.
Oversee configuration, deployment, and ongoing support of applications.
Troubleshoot complex issues and escalate to vendors when needed.
Monitor usage, performance, and maintain change-control documentation.
Ensure security governance and compliance across the portfolio.
