Job summary

Peregrine, a leading UK consultancy, is seeking an experienced Application Architect to lead the architecture strategy across a major business area. This hybrid role is based in Preston and involves shaping the application landscape and aligning it with enterprise standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering architecture standards, governance, and strategy.
  • Strong understanding of lifecycle and portfolio management.
  • Experience with IT governance frameworks.
  • Effective communicator with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
  • Knowledge of integration principles and enterprise systems.
  • Understanding security, regulatory, and operational considerations.
  • STEM degree or equivalent experience.
  • TOGAF or similar architecture certifications preferred.
  • ITIL qualifications preferred.
  • Experience with EA modelling techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Lead application architecture strategy and roadmap.
  • Oversee portfolio management and obsolescence planning.
  • Design and maintain architecture blueprints aligned to standards.
  • Collaborate with owners to create roadmaps and investment plans.
  • Ensure application information is accurate in CMDB / repositories.
  • Define and enforce integration standards between applications, platforms, and services.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations.
  • Provide governance, risk management, and guidance across lifecycle.
  • Mentor and develop technical teams on architecture principles.
  • Monitor trends to drive continuous improvement.

Salary: £40,000 - 65,000 per year

  • We design and maintain application architecture blueprints aligned to business goals and enterprise standards.

  • We ensure application information is maintained accurately within configuration and asset management repositories.
  • We define and enforce integration standards to ensure effective communication between applications, platforms, and services.
  • We evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools, providing recommendations to support future business requirements.
  • We provide architectural governance, risk management, and guidance throughout the solution lifecycle to ensure security, performance, and compliance requirements are met.
  • We support, mentor, and develop technical teams on architecture principles and best practices.
  • We monitor industry trends and technology developments to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
