Job summary

A research institution in Cambridge is seeking an experienced animal technician to join their team. The role involves daily care and maintenance of animals in a Germ Free biofacility. Candidates should have qualifications in animal technology and experience in a technical/laboratory setting. Interaction with team members and completion of regulated procedures will be required. Training will be provided for those without specific Germ Free experience.

Qualifications

  • Hold or ready to apply for a Home Office personal license.
  • Essential experience in completing basic procedures.
  • Desirable experience with rodents in Isocages and Isolators.

Responsibilities

  • Daily care and maintenance of animals in a Germ Free biofacility.
  • Interact positively with team colleagues and research staff.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced animal technician to join our friendly, hardworking team to be actively involved in the daily care and maintenance of animals within our Germ Free biofacility situated in Cambridge.

Qualifications

Ideally you will hold an Institute of Animal Technology Level 2 or equivalent qualification, or at least GCSE (A-C) in English, Maths and a Science subject (ideally Biology), or equivalent. It is also desirable that the successful candidate will be expected to hold, or be ready to apply for a Home Office personal license with Home Office modules A - B.

Responsibilities

You should be positive, reliable and able to interact with team colleagues and research staff. Experience in a technical/laboratory setting and completing basic procedures is essential. Experience completing regulated procedures would be an advantage. Specific experience working with rodents housed in Isocages and Isolators would be beneficial however training will be provided for experienced technicians who do not have Germ Free and Isolator /Isocage experience.
