Job summary

Barrington James Drug Discovery & Preclinical is seeking an Animal Technician to support the day-to-day running of an animal facility, focusing on rodent care, welfare, and cleanliness. You will work with a busy research team to ensure high standards of welfare and facility operations.

Applicants should have prior experience with laboratory rodents in a BSU, strong knowledge of welfare procedures, and the ability to follow regulated lab protocols. PIL is advantageous but not required.

Job description

We’re currently supporting a research organisation looking for an Animal Technician to join their team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced animal technician with a background in rodent husbandry within a BSU to join a busy research environment and support the day-to-day care and welfare of animals.

What are we looking for?
  • Previous experience working with laboratory rodents within a BSU
  • Strong understanding of animal husbandry and welfare
  • Experience working in a regulated laboratory or research environment
  • A PIL would be advantageous, although candidates without a PIL will also be considered
  • Reliable, organised and confident working as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following procedures
The role

You will support the day-to-day running of the animal facility, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, husbandry and cleanliness are maintained. You’ll work closely with the wider research team and contribute to the smooth operation of the facility.
