Vets Now is seeking a Full Time Animal Care Assistant for our Glasgow emergency hospital. You will support clinical teams to maintain a calm in-patient environment and assist with basic procedures and routine diagnostics as part of a busy, 24/7 emergency service.

Join a dedicated team of Vets, Nurses, Animal Care Assistants and Receptionists. The role offers a 5 on/5 off shift pattern with rotating hours and a range of employee benefits, including generous leave and health plan options.

The Vets Now Pet Emergency Hospital in Glasgow provides both a first-class referral service and an out-of-hours emergency service for veterinary practices in and around Glasgow. You will be joining a dedicated team of Vets, Nurses, Animal Care Assistants and Receptionists in our 24/7 emergency and speciality referral Glasgow Hospital.

Role and Responsibilities

As an Animal Care Assistant at Vets Now, you will play a crucial role in assisting our clinical teams with providing a comfortable and stress-free in-patient environment whilst negotiating busy shifts in an emergency clinic. Your responsibilities will include:

• Working under the guidance of Vet Nurses and Vet Surgeons.


• Handling patients for basic procedures and assisting with running diagnostic tests.


• Assisting in setting up and clearing down theatres for surgical procedures.


• Ensuring all in-patients have their basic husbandry needs attended to.

Working pattern

5 shifts on / 5 shifts off working the following shifts on rotation: 07:00 to 17:00, 12:00 to 22:00 and 14:00 to 00:00

Plus, a fair share of bank holidays.
