Job description

We're hiring an Android OS Engineer to help build the operating systems behind next-generation AR / VR devices. This is deep technical work across Android internals, AOSP integrations, system frameworks, and performance-critical components. If you enjoy working close to the metal and shaping the foundations of immersive hardware, you'll feel at home here.

What's on offer
  • Annual Salary from £98,000-£110,000 doe and location, paid weekly via Principle HR
  • Fully remote within the UK (must already be UK-based with full right to work)
  • 6-month PAYE contract, inside IR35, strong potential to extend
  • Opportunity to work on OS components that ship on market-leading AR / VR products
What we're looking for
  • 6+ years' software engineering experience
  • Strong background in Android internals, AOSP, frameworks or OS-level development
  • Proficiency in C++ and Java (Kotlin is useful but not essential)
  • Experience building or maintaining system components rather than apps
  • Exposure to embedded, device-level or resource-constrained environments is beneficial
What you'll work on
  • Integrate new Android / AOSP releases into custom AR / VR system frameworks
  • Build, debug and optimise OS-level services, APIs and internal infrastructure
  • Work with engineering teams across the UK and Europe on system design and stability
  • Contribute to performance profiling, low-level debugging and system tooling
  • Support the evolution of a complex, large-scale Android-based platform

If you'd like to work on real AR / VR system software that reaches millions of users, apply with your CV and I'll be in touch to discuss the next steps.
