Job summary

Thermoteknix is seeking an Android Developer with at least three years of professional Android experience to design, implement, and maintain high-performance software. You will work across the full development lifecycle using Java and Kotlin, with Jetpack Compose and XML layouts, and collaborate with hardware interfaces in a Cambridge-based team.

Your responsibilities span design, development, testing, and optimization, ensuring robust, scalable software for our imaging and AR systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional Android experience.
• Experience with both Java and Kotlin.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose and XML layouts.
• Experience with background services, storage, and lifecycle management.
• Desirable: exposure to hardware interfacing or related cross-functional collaboration.

We are seeking an Android Developer with at least three years of professional experience in Android development to design, implement, and maintain high-performance, reliable software systems. The role involves working across the full development lifecycle, with emphasis on efficient algorithms, robust system design, and maintainable code.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications for Android.
• Participate in system architecture and design discussions.
• Debug, profile, and optimise applications for performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, QA, and product stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Android development.
• Experience with both Java and Kotlin.
• Experience with both Jetpack Compose and XML layouts.
• Experience with background services, storage, and lifecycle management.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript, REST and JSON APIS, and web frameworks such as Angular.
• Experience with TCP and UDP socket programming, and Android's networking stack.
• Experience with hardware interfacing.
• Experience with additional languages (e.g. Python, C#) or platforms (Linux, Windows)

Personal projects and contributions to open-source projects will also be well received, if they are supported with repository links.
