Job description

Company Watch is hiring a full‑time, remote/hybrid Analytics Engineer to help build out their data architecture. The role involves owning and operating data warehouse pipelines using Google Cloud Platform services (like BigQuery and Airflow). You will work closely with data scientists and business stakeholders to understand their needs and build reliable, high-quality data products to support their analytics goals. - Develop, test, and maintain data solutions using a core stack of GCP services, SQL, dbt, and Python. - Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and data products. - Apply data modelling, data governance, and data quality principles to ensure robust and reliable data.

Responsibilities
  • Develop solutions using core GCP services, including BigQuery, Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow), Dataflow, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions.
  • Own the administration and operational health of the data warehouse pipelines, including scheduling, monitoring, logging, and performance tuning of overnight processes to ensure service continuity.
  • Work closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, and Business Stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical requirements and reliable data products.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimise data pipeline architecture and execution for cost efficiency, speed, and reliability within the GCP ecosystem.
Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience in a data engineering/analytics role (4+ years)
  • Experience with SQL and general data modelling using dbt
  • Cloud data warehouse experience e.g. BigQuery (preferred), Snowflake or Redshift
  • Experience with cloud providers e.g. AWS or GCP (preferred) and management via IaC (i.e. Terraform)
  • Experience of data engineering best practices. e.g. CI/CD and using version control
Preferred Skills
  • Proficient Python programming skills
  • Working in an Agile Development environment
  • Experience of data quality assessment and validation
  • Deployment / use of specific GCP Components including: Cloud Run, Dataflow, DataProc, Cloud Composer, Compute Engine
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of traditional databases e.g. MS SQL Server or Postgresql
  • Experience in the Business or Credit Information industry
  • Familiarity with the Linux command line and server administration
  • Previous exposure to working with modern AI tools e.g. Claude/Gemini/ChatGPT
