Job description

Our Analytics Engineering discipline works at the intersection of data, engineering and our collectives – Money, Borrowing, Operations and Financial Crime – and more. The team designs downstream data models from backend services to give our Data Warehouse a competitive advantage for Monzo. We aim to build an outstanding Data Warehouse that fuels decision making, business intelligence, financial reconciliation and data science. You will be an individual contributor in this squad, spotting patterns in how we construct our Data Warehouse and optimizing our BI platform, Looker, while loading and transforming data, minimizing cloud costs, and upholding best practices with high quality standards. We are growing and have roles available across Growth and Finance – let us know if a particular area interests you.

Responsibilities
  • Support the building of robust pipelines and data models downstream of backend services (mostly in BigQuery) that support internal reporting, machine learning, and financial/regulatory use cases.
  • Build with optimisation of our Data Warehouse in mind, spotting and raising opportunities to reduce complexity and cost.
  • Help define and manage best practices for our Data Warehouse, including payload design of source data, logical data modelling, implementation, metadata and testing standards.
  • Follow our established best practices and standards defined by the team.
  • Investigate and work effectively with colleagues from other disciplines to monitor and improve data quality within the warehouse.
Interview Process
  • Final loop consisting of two hour‑long interviews to assess a case study, collaboration and impact.
  • Process takes around 3–4 weeks; we promise flexibility and updates throughout.
  • Guidelines on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ace an application and interview are available; you can read them here.

If you have any questions, please reach out to tech-hiring@monzo.com. You can also let us know if there's anything we can do to make the process easier for you because of disability, neurodiversity or any other reason.

Benefits & Compensation
  • £55,000–£65,000 base salary
  • Stock options
  • Visa sponsorship available
  • Role can be based in our London office or open to distributed work within the UK (with occasional London meetings)
  • Flexible working hours and trust you to work the hours that suit you and your team
  • £1,000 learning budget annually for books, training courses and conferences
  • MacBook provided, with remote‑work setup support for fully remote employees
