About the job Analytical Development Scientist

Northreach is a dynamic recruitment agency that connects businesses with top talent in the cell & gene therapy, fintech and digital sectors. Our mission is to provide a seamless and personalised recruitment experience for clients and candidates, and to create a positive work environment that encourages equality, innovation and professional growth.

Northreach is excited to be partnering with an innovative immuno-oncology startup based in Oxford, pioneering groundbreaking approaches to cancer immunotherapy. Our client is on a mission to develop novel therapies targeting cancer-specific proteins through a range of cutting-edge technologies, including bispecific T-cell engagers, adoptive cell therapies, and cancer vaccines.

About the Role:

We are looking for an Analytical Development Scientist to join our clients expanding Protein Biology team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing and executing analytical assays to characterize and screen therapeutic candidates, playing an integral part in the development of their first TCR-based therapies targeting unique cancer proteins.

This is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about cutting‑edge science and eager to contribute to the development of life‑changing cancer treatments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and run biophysical and biochemical assays to generate high‑quality data, ensuring informed decisions can be made during the drug development process.
  • Collaborate with teams across functions to design experiments tailored to different phases of development.
  • Keep detailed and accurate records of laboratory procedures, data analysis, and results to maintain high standards of scientific integrity.
  • Communicate experimental findings to various stakeholders within the organization and work within set timelines to achieve project goals.
  • Mentor and train other team members on analytical techniques, supporting their growth and technical expertise.
What Were Looking For:
  • Hands‑on experience with at least one protein analytical method, such as binding kinetics (SPR, BLI), capillary electrophoresis (CE‑SDS, cIEF), analytical chromatography, or thermal stability assays (DSF).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate in a cross‑functional, dynamic team.
  • A proven track record of adapting quickly to new techniques and encouraging the development of others.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with experience in documenting scientific processes and findings both verbally and in writing.
  • A PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as biochemistry, molecular biology, or related disciplines.
Bonus Skills:
  • Previous experience working in biologics drug development, particularly within a biotech or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Knowledge of biologics manufacturability studies, including stress testing or forced degradation studies.

This role offers the chance to work with a forward‑thinking startup, tackling some of the most complex challenges in cancer treatment. If youre passionate about driving innovation and making an impact in the biotech space, Northreach would love to connect you with this exciting opportunity!
