Job description

The newly created Strategy and Insights division at Sony Music Entertainment in the UK is responsible for driving actionable insights to the business through the lens of data. The team covers three key pillars, Strategy, Audience and Culture. The role works with Sony Music's iconic labels – including Columbia, RCA, Commercial Group, Ministry of Sound, Relentless – to support best‑in‑class activations and amplify artist and brand stories to connect with a global audience. This opportunity for Senior Analyst sits within the Audience team, focuses on leveraging different data sources across DSPs, Social Media Platforms and First Party Data to generate actionable insights on how listeners consume content across platforms, and who those listeners are, with the goal to provide recommendations to help the labels build successful campaigns and maximise revenue and market share. You will also do exploratory work on optimisation and help assess success in building first‑party data relationships with artists & fans through marketing activities. You will be able to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to take action based on insights to seize business opportunities. This role is also a people‑management role, supporting one analyst reporting into you.

Responsibilities
  • Leverage our datasets to uncover patterns in music consumption, streaming behaviour, social media, and first‑party data. Develop reports that clearly communicate findings, supporting artist development as well as commercial and digital strategies. Take ownership of projects from initial concept through to successful delivery.
  • Design, manage and automate dashboards or bespoke reporting solutions to guide decision makers and help identify opportunities while maintaining data integrity and report accuracy.
  • Key liaison in understanding data sources, systems and working with teams to implement enhancements to support company data advancement and education.
  • Assist the analytics and insight team in exploratory work, leveraging new datasets and new tools or forms of analysis.
  • Leadership: Manage, mentor and develop one analyst.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience as an analyst, preferably within the entertainment or media sectors.
  • Music industry experience preferred. Candidate expected to be knowledgeable about how the music business operates and about the evolving digital landscape.
  • Analytical mindset – ability to identify trends in large datasets, display creativity in problem‑solving, and generate new ideas.
  • A detail‑orientated, excellent communicator, and enthusiastic collaborator that works well with team members.
  • Strong data analysis abilities (e.g. familiarity with Excel v‑lookups, index match, pivot tables, and basic functions, knowledge of R/Python very beneficial).
  • Experience in PowerPoint and data analytics/visualization software (Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI etc.).
  • Confident in SQL, other data programming languages and have experience with relational databases.
  • Knowledge of all major social media platforms and up to date with social and digital trends and strategies.
  • Ability to work with technical teams to define business requirements for automated reporting systems.
