A leading NHS Trust in Kidderminster is seeking an Anaesthetic and Recovery Practitioner (Band 5) to deliver safe and high-quality perioperative care. As a Band 5 Anaesthetic and Recovery Practitioner, you will deliver safe, high-quality perioperative care to patients undergoing elective surgical procedures in a theatre environment. You will assist in preparing the theatre and equipment for surgical cases, ensuring all infection control and safety standards are met. You will support anaesthetic and surgical teams during operations, maintaining patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure. You will monitor patients' condition before, during, and after surgery, responding promptly to any changes or concerns. You will maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation in line with professional standards and Trust policies. Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, you will provide seamless patient care and a positive surgical experience. Your role involves participating in ongoing training, professional development, and mentorship opportunities to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge. You will promote a compassionate, patient-centred approach in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues. You will comply with Trust policies regarding health and safety, infection control, confidentiality, and data protection. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of theatre services and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Key Working Relationships

Risk Assessment
This post involves manual handling activities and exposure to bodily fluids and chemicals. It includes responsibilities related to theatre equipment, instruments, and drugs, as well as perioperative patient monitoring. The role requires some computer work and may involve working under pressure in emergency situations.
Job Purpose
Deliver safe, compassionate, and high‑quality perioperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Act as the patients advocate, prioritising their needs and well‑being throughout the surgical journey. Facilitate effective communication within the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless and patient-centred care across the theatre pathway. Accept responsibility for infection prevention and control practices within the team and theatre environment. Provide supervision and support to staff and students. The role may require working across all Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust sites.
