Job summary

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, a leading international law firm with London presence, seeks an AML Analyst to join the AML team and ensure regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.

You will review client and matter risk, perform sanctions/PEP screening, assist with enhanced due diligence, and maintain records while coordinating with partners and business services in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required (2:1 or above preferred).
• Law degree preferred.
• AML experience essential within an international law firm.
• Understanding of AML/CTF/CPF requirements and industry standards as well as wider financial crime risks in legal services.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Experience of AML and client due diligence processes and systems.
• Very high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to act autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Team player; strong judgment.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good planning, time management and prioritisation skills.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Review AML and financial crime risks on new client requests.
• Document client and matter risk assessments for internal/external review.
• Perform sanctions, PEP and watchlists screening and escalate as needed.
• Assist with EDD on high-risk clients/matters and conduct further research.
• Assist with client and matter ongoing monitoring activities.
• Communicate with partners, associates and business services teams.
• Maintain internal compliance registers, checklists and protocols.
• Assist with audit preparation.
• Provide support with ad hoc AML/CTF tasks and data collation.
• Keep up to date with regulatory changes in relevant jurisdictions.
