Overview

Production Operator/Packer required for employment in a Global based manufacturing company in Kenfig Industrial Estate near Port Talbot.

Key Points
  • To operate the machines efficiently, producing the right quality product on time with minimal wastage.
  • To support the Production Manager with the continual development and improvement of the function.
  • Customer – ensure the requirements of the Job Specification sheet are met.
  • On-Shift – ensure machines and other ancillary processes are operated continually.
  • On-Shift – prepare for ongoing processes e.g., mixing & granulation.
  • Quality – ensure in‑process checks are recorded and all results are within the requirements; certify the finished product for despatch to the customer.
  • Packaging – ensure that all packaging and identification needs of the customer are met.
  • Despatch & Warehousing – ensure that all despatch and loading needs are met.
Responsibilities
  • Resources – ensure machines are maintained and used correctly and that all materials are properly accounted for and used efficiently.
  • Team Development / Training – ensure that all team members receive formal performance appraisal at least once a year. Establish training and development needs through skills analysis and on‑the‑job review.
  • Finished Product – ensure that all in‑process inspection/tests, labelling and packing conform to the job specification sheets; all deviations are reviewed with quality and the responsible team member.
  • Support – provide support as required by other areas of the business including granulation, out‑of‑hours working etc.
  • Housekeeping / Health & Safety – maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Continuous Improvement – promote ideas to improve processes/systems from the team.
  • Manufacturing experience would be beneficial but not required.
  • Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Working in a manufacturing environment with rotational shifts would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Looking for candidates to start right away.

Pay & Working Hours
  • Initial £12.56 per hour wage rate applies to all candidates (£27,499).
  • Addition levels achievable for the right candidates, with remuneration for moving up to these levels.
  • Own transport is required as the site is not near any major transport links.
  • Average 42.1 hours per week.
  • Rotational day/night basis: 4 on and 4 off 12‑hour shifts.
  • 22 days holiday.
  • Pension scheme – enhanced sick pay package after completion of probation and again from Yr 2.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
