EMED Group is seeking a full-time Ambulance Care Assistant for our Burton, Staffordshire base. The role offers 38 hours per week across 4 shifts with weekend coverage and a rate of £12.71 per hour.

Your duties include transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to medical appointments and between facilities, sometimes in two-person crews. A full UK manual driving licence and good physical fitness are essential.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid UK manual driving licence (6 points maximum).
• Be committed to patient care and able to communicate empathetically.
• Be physically fit for patient handling and moving.
• Able to pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
• A natural flair for teamwork and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Transport elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
• Operate as part of two-person crews or alone, with appropriate safety and vehicle checks.
• Assist with handing over patients to staff on arrival at treatment centres or to family/friends at home.
• Transfer patients between beds, stretchers and chairs in and out of hospital settings.
• Ensure ambulance safety, cleanliness and readiness for next use.
• Build rapport with patients and their relatives to support compassionate care.

We have a fantastic opportunity for full time Ambulance Care Assistants to join our team based in Burton, Staffordshire.

Permanent | Full Time | 38 hrs per week - 4 shifts per week including some weekends | £12.71 per hour

An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you'll be helping someone in need, making their lives that little bit easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a real sense of achievement.

Your main responsibility will be transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This can be carried out as two-person crews or alone, so it is vital to hold a full UK manual driving licence and to have a good degree of physical fitness.

Other duties include:

• Assisting in the transportation of "end of life" patients, ensuring a high level of empathy is present at all times
• Building rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends
• Responsible for lifting, securing and helping patients in and out of the Ambulance
• Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospital's or to family/friends at their homes.
• Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar both in and out of hospital and medical settings.
• Ensuring that the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy
