Job summary

Executive Talent Solutions is recruiting an Assistant Accountant for a friendly, established accountancy practice near Colchester, Essex. The role covers the preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, bookkeeping, VAT returns and bank reconciliations.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years' experience in an accounting environment
• AAT qualification or near completion
• Experience ideally in an accountancy practice
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures

Responsibilities

• Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Bookkeeping and maintenance of client accounts
• Prepare VAT returns
• Conduct bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations
• Assist with year-end accounts and tax work
• Process journals and maintain accurate records
• Liaise with clients and respond to accounting queries
• Support senior team members on client assignments
