Job summary

Bournemouth Water is seeking an Alternative Water Supply Technician to help maintain water supplies during planned works and emergencies, deploying, operating, maintaining and testing AWS equipment to ensure customers receive reliable support during interruptions.

The role requires GCSEs, a full UK driving licence and a Water Hygiene certificate, plus the ability to work independently or in a team, staying calm under pressure and delivering strong customer service.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) is essential.
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
• EUSR Water Hygiene Certificate is essential.
• Experience working independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Experience maintaining records and working to deadlines.
• Customer-focused approach with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Flexible approach including on-call standby rota.

Responsibilities

• Deploying and operating AWS equipment during planned and reactive events.
• Maintaining, cleaning, disinfecting and testing AWS assets (bowsers, tankers, pumps, hoses).
• Carrying out inspections, record keeping and post-event reporting.
• Supporting network operations activities such as leak detection, mains flushing and valve maintenance.
• Completing site assessments and identifying effective AWS solutions.
• Deploying traffic management and monitoring equipment where required.
• Supporting emergency response activities and standby/call-out rotas.
• Delivering excellent customer service while working in local communities.
