Alternative Provision Support Trainee – Scarborough

We’re working with a specialist Alternative Provision school in Scarborough, looking for enthusiastic individuals to join as Alternative Provision Support Trainees. This is a fantastic opportunity for people from care, youth work, or similar backgrounds who want to transfer their skills into education, gain hands‑on SEN experience, and work towards formal qualifications. No previous school experience is required, just a passion for supporting young people to thrive.

📍 Location: Scarborough
💰 Pay: £14.00 per hour
📆 Start Date: ASAP
📄 Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential for permanent progression)

The Role

As an Alternative Provision Support Trainee, you’ll work closely with pupils in Key Stage 2, 3 & 4, supporting them in both learning and personal development. Your work will focus on preparing students for Post-16 education, further training, and employment, while helping them build confidence, independence, and life skills.

You’ll:

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support tailored to pupils’ individual needs
  • Help students develop social, emotional, and academic skills
  • Support a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
  • Apply transferable skills from care, youth work, or similar roles
  • Learn SEN strategies, behaviour management, and teaching techniques on the job
