Overview

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate and flexible Learning Mentor to support students within a specialist alternative provision at a secondary school in Southsea. This full-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to work closely with KS3 and KS4 learners who thrive in a personalised and nurturing educational setting. This position is offered on a full-time basis, with the potential to transition into a permanent role.

Role
  • As an Alternative Provision Learning Mentor, you'll play a vital role in helping young people re-engage with education. Working alongside teaching staff, you'll support the delivery of functional English, Maths, and Science, while fostering emotional well-being, resilience, and personal development.
Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of functional English, Maths, and Science for KS3/KS4 students.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
  • Provide tailored support for students with SEMH, autism, ADHD, and other additional needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, families, and external agencies.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to individual learning plans.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and self-esteem.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced child DBS certificate (or willingness to apply).
  • References available upon request.
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete).
